A radio commercial in which Steve impersonated multiple celebrities "endorsing" a regional political candidate was a 1995 National Winner in the annual Silver Microphone Awards. The commercial was one of three that won top prize in the category of "Political Campaigns." The ad was also a National Finalist in the same competition in the "Political" category of the "Single Ad" group.

A radio commercial co-written and voiced by Steve was named a National Winner in the 1993 Silver Microphone Awards. In the spot, Steve impersonated five U.S. Presidents and Ross Perot. The ad also won the "Best of Show" prize at the first annual Capital District of New York Radio Association Awards. The CDRA Awards also honored two additional commercials voiced by Steve that year-, one in the category of Best Radio Campaign, and the other for Best Commercial Produced by a Radio Station.

Steve is voted Best Area Comedian in a readers poll conducted by Metroland Magazine; an alternative Upstate New York newspaper. Steve is hired by Cellular One, Inc. to provide a daily "Joke Line" for its cellular telephone customers.

Cellular Marketing Magazine's Annual Creative Challenge Award for Best Radio Campaign goes to Ex-Cell Communications of Albany, New York, "for its three humorous commercials using personality Andy Rooney." Actually, it was Steve impersonating Rooney in the spots! (See enclosed story.) A National Telly Award was given for a TV commercial created for the Times Union Newspaper of Albany, NY. Steve provided the voice for the animated character in the ad. The Nori Awards, an annual advertising competition which encompasses the upstate New York region, nominates a radio ad voiced by Steve in the category of Best Single Commercial of 1990.

Steve is chosen an overall winner in a nation-wide talent competition (Comedy category) sponsored by Sound Tracs Recording Studios, Inc. and Universal Studios. He won a trip to Hollywood and an audition with MCA Record Company representatives.
